How much should an entry level graphic designer make?
June 13th 2010
I graduated with my BA in graphic design last June. I’ve worked as an graphic design intern for in-house marketing (few miles outside of Chicago) for the last 3 months and my internship is about to end. I’ve been told they’re seriously thinking of hiring me and one of my coworkers told me to think about salary if it happens. She advised me to be prepared because they’ll probably take low-ball my salary because they I know I want a job (why else would I intern?!). Given this current job market I’m willing to take anything… But I’m curious to know how much an entry level graphic designer should make. I am proficient in Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign, Fireworks, and Dreamweaver(html and css). I’ve been designing company newsletters, brochures, email blasts (which I hand code myself). How low is too low? Should I negotiate if it’s too low?

You should ask someone from your work place who joined as fresher..
Also if find out how much a person in your company is getting with an year of experience..
If you are asked to quote your price.. ask a little less than what some one with 1 year exp is getting.. If you are really good at you work then you can actually ask for the same amount..
