I have been a professional athlete since graduating college. I have a degree in communications from a very good school. However, I am having trouble finding a good resume template that emphasizes my degree and what Ive learned through sports, rather than what companies I have worked for. Any ideas?

I can provide you with an education based sample resume in here.
However, most if not all of the formatting will be lost. In addition, I have a couple of other templates as well that you may prefer. If you wish you can email me and if you have access to Microsoft Word or the ability to receive a PDF attachment, I will be more than happy to email you the templates.

You’re looking for what’s called a functional resume – one that emphasizes the skills and capabilities you’ve gathered vs. your job history. Instead of (or in addition to) your job history you would add a section on professional skills like Leadership, Management, Customer Service, etc. and under each list your qualifications. The exact areas you’d cover would depend on the kind of job you’re looking for but that’s the general idea. As for resume templates, just about any resume template would do – just add a section for professional skills.
