What’s better : HTML based email with few images or a big Image block with hyperlinks via image mapping?

I have used HTML emails to run my email campaigns is past but found that if i send the entire as one image and provide hyperlinks via image mapping, i could save a lot of time as well as do not need to fear of email template getting distorted at the recipient’s end. Can somebody advise whether its a right idea or not?

Not a great idea. I would advise for HTML based email only. Do not exceed the content to image ratio beyond 50%. Image mapping is not at all encouraged.
