what kind of letter template would be good for asking a senator or high official for help?

Hi, im looking for a template for microsoft office word . I want to ask a senator if he can give his word of approval, stating that im a good guy and have never done anything wrong.(for and upgrade of a military dishcarge) I want to know what kind of template should i write to him in, for asking him of such a favor.

Forget the template. You stand a BETTER chance if you actually write your own letter saying what you want. I work in a mail room and can recognize a form letter within 1/2 a second. That is about how much attention I give them. The more I have to read to determine where the letter belongs, the greater the chances I will CARE.
