I’m having formatting problems with msgs posted to yahoo groups (ugly fonts that can’t be changed, etc.)
November 21st 2009
I write a newsletter in Word, and copy it into an email to post to my yahoogroups. A contributor writes a paragraph in yahoo email, and sends it to me. I post it into Word, format it, and the paste all into the msg to post to yahoo groups. Everything looks nice except her para, which looks horrible. (no wrapping, for example, or weird font that can’t be changed).
Same thing happens when she emails me, and I paste it directly into a new email.
Anyone else having this problem?

Microsoft Word was originally designed for creating printed documents. It doesn’t play nicely with email and the Web.
A newsletter, if folks are going to print it, is a good use for Word. But I suggest that if you use Word, you should always send the Word document as an attachment to an email message. Or upload the Word document to your Group’s Files folder, and send email telling members it’s there. But don’t cut & paste from Word to email, because the results are very unpredictable, as you’ve discovered.
Our group uses Word documents as attachments, and that works fine for us.

You might be better off using a Plain Text editor for your newsletter.
